ACCOMMODATION

Accommodations are changes in how a student accesses information and

demonstrates learning, without altering the instructional level, content, or

performance criteria. Examples include extended time on tests, preferential

seating, or the use of audio books.

MODIFICATION

Modifications involve changes to the curriculum expectations or assessment

criteria, altering what a student is expected to learn. This may include

simplifying assignments or reducing the complexity of tasks.

SUPPLEMENTARY AIDS & SERVICES

These are supports provided in regular education classes or other education-

related settings to enable children with disabilities to be educated with

nondisabled children. Examples include assistive technology, peer tutors, or

adapted materials.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Assistive technology refers to devices or services that help increase, maintain,

or improve the functional capabilities of children with disabilities. This can

range from low-tech tools like pencil grips to high-tech devices like speech-

generating software.

SUPPORT TO PERSONNEL

This includes training or assistance provided to school staff to help them

effectively implement a student's IEP. Support can be delivered by special

educators, therapists, or other qualified professionals.

INDIRECT SERVICE

Indirect services are provided on behalf of the student and do not involve

direct interaction. Examples include consulting with teachers about

instructional strategies or adapting curriculum materials to meet a student's

needs.
